As a podcaster, you’ll need somewhere for your podcast to “live,” which is essentially a server. A host or server “serves” the podcast audio file to your listeners.
There are a whole bunch of dedicated services available like Libsyn, Blubrry, Podomatic, Podbean (our favorite) and countless others.
Those are great, but in some cases, you may not even need one. If you have an existing website andl web hosting plan, you may be able to use that to host your podcast. It’s likely that your site is running on WordPress, for which there are some great podcasting plugins available. With a few clicks, we can have the podcast up and running through your existing site, negating the need to pay more for a separate host.
If you don’t have a website or host, we can help you determine the best route to take. In most cases we suggest using a WordPress site as a starting point. This way you can completely customize the content, and best take advantage of web traffic.
Every option has its pros and cons, so we always look at your unique situation and make a recommendation based on that. East Coast Studio offers full setup services to get you running on whatever platform you choose, as well as get you listed in iTunes and other directories. We even offer web-hosting and website development, allowing you to be as hands-on or hands-off as you’d like.
Some clients come to us simply with an idea, and we then handle everything from website creation to episode editing and posting. Others may need less.
Some of the things we consider are budget, the platforms you’d like to post the podcast, audience size, if you have an existing web host plan, etc.
